High Capacity Magazines, Why I Love This Debate

Posted by Kevin Amerson on

There is always anti-gun legislation being thrown about, voted on, passed, failed. The topic of high capacity magazines came up during a conversation I was having in a small group the other day. One thing always amazes me about how people view gun laws presently. Not only in this conversation, but in many, I will hear things like: "Shouldn't it be difficult to get a handgun?", or "Shouldn't  you be required to lock up your gun?". My general feeling is that people will vote for NEW gun legislation because they have no clue about CURRENT gun legislation and even though new legislation won't address their current concerns, they will vote for it because it is something, and they feel like something needs to be done.

This is why I love the debate on high capacity magazines. Let's keep this debate going as long as we possibly can simply because it keeps people occupied. The ones that don't have a clue about current legislation. The ones that must argue about guns no matter what else is going on. The ones that simply want something - anything - to be done. Let's tie them up with pointless debates because they are going to argue for something and understanding that they must argue something, let's have them argue something meaningless.
